Its been a big topic around here lately! Yes, its very unfortunate, but more fakes are showing up everyday on ebay. They can make anything and this includes all the appropriate stamps and hallmarks. There are a few clues. Look for sellers who have a long, good history and feedback. I would never buy anything item that uses a catalog or website picture, rather then a picture of the actual item. The engraving must be perfect for that particular item and that really takes some research and experience. I spend way too much time in Tiffany stores :) Also, there is no reason that one seller will have multiple, brand new Tiffany to sell. If they received a gift, Tiffany will exchange it. Its most often silver and the newer collections that tend to be reproduced. Remember, receipts and Tiffany packaging can be fakes, too. One more thought, be careful when buying outside the US. Anyway, I beleive that you would know a fake from a real...but how can you tell. I would not have guessed that 80 percent of what is up on ebay right now is fake.
